Critter Class

Ages 4-12  LCC (Bi-Centennial Room) Entry C
This 4-week class offered by Crosstown Exotics is an introduction to the World’s most misunderstood creatures, reptiles, amphibians and bugs! We will teach the importance of these creatures to the environment as well as their natural history and how to take care of them as pets. Each class students will have the opportunity to photograph, touch and handle the animals. Some classes may take place outdoors, so dress accordingly. No open-toed shoes.

Magic Class

Ages 5-10

Children will have a great time learning a collection of fascinating and mesmerizing tricks from the “Magic Team of Gary Kantor”! They will amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading and more. All materials are provided and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Additionally, you can sign up for multiple classes since brand new tricks are taught at each session!

LEGO® Pokémon® Challenge Camp

Get ready for an adventure in the world of Pokémon®! Capture wild Pokémon® creatures and train them for battle in the LEGO® Pokémon® universe. Improve your accuracy and power as you learn new moves and use special abilities. Tap into your inner engineer at this three day event, as we build Dratini, Pikachu, Poke Balls and more with LEGO® Bricks. Bring your own Pokémon® trading cards if you wish to play and trade at the end of each day. Do you have what it takes to become a Pokémon® Master? Each child will take home a custom LEGO® mini-figure at the end of camp. Please bring your own NUT FREE snack & water each day.

LEGO® Junior Engineering Camp

Children love this STEM-based engineering camp! We will build vehicles, animals, carnival rides and lots more fun models with LEGO® bricks, technic parts, motors and battery packs. Campers will learn to read model plans and build a variety of motorized and non-motorized models. Fun, yet educational, this camp will reinforce counting, number recognition and fine motor skills. Your LEGO® fan will LOVE building models that really work! Each child takes home a custom LEGO® mini-figure at the end of camp. Please bring your own NUT FREE snack and water each day.

LEGO® Construction Craze    

Put on your hard hat and head on over to our construction site! Make your own motorized models of tools of the trade from a hand-held power drill and power saw to a tough, all-terrain bulldozer and giant dump truck. Would you be surprised to learn that one of these objects has a history stretching from the Stone Age to the Space Age? And who thought of making a saw blade in the shape of a circle?  Build your knowledge of construction at Bricks 4 Kidz®! Build motorized models such as Dump trucks, jackhammers, drills, power saws and other powerful tools and create your own LEGO® construction site. Every child will take home a custom LEGO® mini-figure at the end of the last class.

LEGO® Forces of Nature    

Fasten your seatbelts; we’re in for some wild weather! This unit is all about the amazing and powerful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon. There is a lot of geography in this unit. We’ll examine a map of the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where most tsunamis occur, define the area known as “Tornado Alley” in North America and find out what hurricanes are called in different parts of the world. Kids will build moving models of a tornado, a tsunami, an earthquake and a cyclone. Learn how they move, why they happen and what you can do to stay safe! Every child takes home a custom LEGO® mini-figure at the end of the last class.

LEGO® Winter Break Mini-Camp 

Students love our interactive Bricks 4 Kidz® models. This camp is all about the fun of doing something with what you’ve built. From a spinning top to a spin art model, kids will love playing with their creations! But don’t worry, we sneak in lots of learning too. For example, participants will learn to understand probability in the “3-in-a-row” game model and learn about friction and symmetry with the spinning top lesson. Don’t miss out! Each child will take home a custom LEGO mini-figure at the end of the two-day session. Please bring a NUT FREE snack and drink each day.

Horseback Riding

Ages 6 & Older
Learning to horseback ride can be fun for all ages. Nova Quarter Horses, Inc. offers beginner, intermediate and advanced riding levels in both English and Western disciplines. Whether you are new to the sport of horseback riding, rode years ago or always wanted to learn to ride, now is your chance. We have qualified instructors that teach with passion and enthusiasm and encourage our students to be safe and have fun with the proper instruction for riding a horse. We offer both an indoor and outdoor arena, so Nova is able to offer lessons year-round. A five-lesson card includes 5 individual one-hour lessons within a qualified instructor in a group format. Long pants and hard soled or gym shoes are required. Once your lesson card is purchased, call the stable to arrange classes at (708) 479-3696.

Rising Star Musical Theater

Ages 6-11
Administration Building (All-Purpose Room)
Explore your dramatic and creative side while learning theatrical terms, musical concepts and basic dance steps. Students will learn acting warmups, improv games and how to make props. They will also prepare a short performance of a popular musical such as “Annie”, “Aladdin” or “Little Mermaid” to be given during the final class. The final class on Tuesday, October 22 will be held at the Lions Community Center, Room 1 for family and friends to attend.

We might make some hot apple cider, a Thanksgiving feast or even some festive holiday cookies! Learn fun and easy recipes for the fall and holiday seasons. Each child will take home their own cookbook of recipes each session. Please bring an apron to class!
