NLCPD Celebrates 55th Anniversary

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the New Lenox Community Park District (NLCPD) will mark its 55th anniversary. Established in 1969, the NLCPD has continuously provided a variety of special events and programs for the New Lenox community and beyond.

The NLCPD is thrilled to commemorate its anniversary with the release of55 Years: A History of NLCPD, a video project highlighting the individuals, events, and programs that have shaped the Park District over the past 55 years. Select staff members took part in narrating the video, which includes footage and photos from the Park District’s archives. The video delves into the Park District’s origins and its aspirations to offer even more chance to foster community connections in the future.

“We’ve loved every second of making memories with residents of New Lenox and their families and friends,” Executive Director Greg Lewis said. “From sports and special events to childcare and preschool, our history is packed full of parks and recreation fun.”

Additionally, this summer, the NLCPD will host free events such as the Kids Fishing Derby, Park Parties and a new Ice Cream Social. Patrons can enjoy the new state-of-the-art Driving Range at the Sanctuary Golf Course, which features Toptracer technology. To further add to the summer fun, construction for Water Chase Park will begin. The project, with a budget of over $1.2 million, will include an innovative play area, wiffle ball field and pickleball courts.
