MOODY’S UPGRADES NEW LENOX COMMUNITY PARK DISTRICT CREDIT RATING

The New Lenox Community Park District has received a credit rating upgrade from Moody’s Ratings, one of the nation’s leading independent credit rating agencies. Moody’s raised the District’s rating from A2 to A1, reflecting strong financial
management, a healthy local economy, and responsible long-term planning. A higher credit rating is important because it signals financial stability and can help the Park District borrow money at lower interest rates when funding future projects—saving taxpayer dollars over time.

Moody’s cited several key strengths behind the upgrade, including:
• A strong and growing local economy within the Chicago metropolitan area
• Careful budgeting and solid cash reserves
• Responsible debt levels
• Continued improvement in operations, including the District’s golf course

The Park District ended fiscal year 2025 with stable reserves and is continuing to rebuild fund balances toward its established financial policy goal. Moody’s also recognized recent investments in Sanctuary Golf Course, which have increased participation and strengthened revenues.

“This upgrade reflects years of disciplined financial planning and transparency,” said Jason Braglia, Director of Business Services. “We have worked intentionally to strengthen our
reserves, manage debt responsibly, and make smart investments that benefit our residents while protecting the Park District’s long-term financial health.”

Moody’s also noted that the Park District maintains low long-term liabilities and has a balanced financial outlook as it considers future capital improvements. “This is strong validation that the Park District is being managed in a fiscally responsible way,” said Greg Lewis, Executive Director. “Our focus is always on providing high-quality parks, programs, and facilities while being good stewards of public funds. This rating upgrade confirms that we are doing both.”

The A1 rating applies to both the Park District’s overall credit profile and its general obligation
bonds, which are backed by the District’s full faith and credit.

The New Lenox Community Park District serves approximately 70,000 residents and operates parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and the Sanctuary Golf Course. District leadership emphasized that the improved rating positions the Park District well for future planning while continuing to prioritize affordability and community value.
